The Vocational Rehabilitation Technical Assistance Center for Quality Management (VRTAC-QM) is pleased to announce the launch of our newly developed and never before offered VR Grants Management Training Certificate program! In partnership with Management Concepts, a national leader in the provision of training for Federal grant managers, we have developed a certificated training program specific to the effective management of the complex VR grant. This four-course certificate program is targeted at VR agency Chief Financial Officers, and other Financial Managers, VR agency Directors, and other administrative staff who have duties related to managing the VR grant. The four courses are all offered by distance and are two days in length each.  The courses are:

Course 2050: Uniform Administrative Requirements for the VR grant and other Federal grants (2 CFR 200)

Course description:
The Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR § 200), commonly referred to as the Uniform Grants Guidance (UGG) are the foundational pillar of managing Federal awards. They serve as a basis for consolidating and streamlining government requirements in order to reduce administrative burden and improve accountability and outcomes. In this course, participants will learn how and when these requirements are applied to the VR program at various fiscal and program levels within a State VR Agency (SVRA). The course will introduce the participant to general federal agency and VR specific compliance requirements and how they impact application of 2 CFR 200.

Course 2080: Cost Principles for Federal Grants

Course description:
The Cost Principles, Subpart E of Uniform Grant Guidance (2 CFR 200), outlines specific requirements that all costs must meet for an expense to be allowable under any federal program and includes other regulations related to specific items of cost. In this course, participants will learn how and when these requirements are applied to the VR program at various fiscal and program levels within an SVRA. For example, they will learn how VR counselors represent the VR program as fiscal agents, along with valuable tools to assist in this role.

Course 2068: Internal controls and other VR grant management principles - COURSES AVAILABLE FOR SCHEDULING NOW

Course description:
In this course participants will learn how to develop and implement internal controls related to the fiscal management of the VR grant.

Elective Courses:

As a part of the VR Grants Management Certificate, participants can choose an elective from Management Concepts’ array of existing courses on Federal grants management. Click this link for a list of elective courses with links to course descriptions on the Management Concepts’ website that includes any required skills needed for each course.

These courses will be live online, and participants will begin and end each two-day course together. The learning is not asynchronous. The courses can be taken in any order, and there will be several dates to choose from for each course. To participate, you will need to be in a position that is responsible for managing or helping to manage the VR grant and have the support of your agency Director or supervisor.

Once you identify the elective you'd like to take, please make sure your course scheduler is notified so that we can be sure the VRTAC-QM covers the cost of the course. Management Concepts requires a one-week notice for cancelation if you cannot attend the class on your requested date. Otherwise, the QM grant is responsible for payment of the course registration. If you are a no-show or do not give notice of cancelation within the designated timeframe, your agency will be responsible for paying for a future elective course to complete the VR Grants Management certificate.

Course Schedule:
DO NOT SCHEDULE DIRECTLY WITH MANAGEMENT CONCEPTS- Contact MCtraining@vrtac-qm.org.  We will coordinate with the Management Concepts team to get you registered.
